The Emery County Sherriff’s Office received a call Monday at 3:55 p.m. reporting a lightning strike at the overlook of the wedge.
The strike resulted in the death of one hiker. The hiker’s name has not yet been released.
Reports suggest the man was 56-years-old.
Ambulances and Sherriff’s Deputies responded as quickly as possible to the call, but rescue crews were unable to revive the man.
