A young Carbon County wrestler recently earned an impressive fourth place finish in a national tournament in Denver, Colo.

Six-year-old Kruz Arroyo, son of Carlos and Brittnie Arroyo, joined 1,500 wrestlers from 22 different states for the Cosmic Clash hosted by Rocky Mountain Nationals. Kruz compete in the six and under 46 pound division, wrestling his way into fourth place.

“This was a super tough tournament,” Brittnie explained. “He’s definitely got a future in it and he loves it so much.”

Though he is young, Kruz has been wrestling consistently for the past two years, earning several first place medals from tournaments throughout Utah. He also brought home a first-place finish from the South Central Utah State Wrestling Tournament.

Kruz will now start raising funds Pin Cancer, an organization that gathers donations for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Last year, Krus raised $1,000 for the cause.
