The Carbon Dinos, Emery Spartans, Pinnacle Panthers and Green River Pirates all took part in the 2018 UHSAA State Track and Field Championships over the weekend at BYU.

Carbon’s Derek Hillam took home two state titles, coming in first place in both the long jump and 300-meter hurdles in the 3A classification. As impressive as Hillam was in the 300 hurdles, what’s more impressive is that he picked up the event mid-season. He had never placed first in the event until his state title victory.

Emery’s Braiden Ivie took two, second place finishes in both the 100 and 200 meters. Ivie finished behind Delta’s Dallin Draper in both races.

Pinnacle’s top overall finish came from freshman Landen Hardy, who posted a fifth-place finish in the 1A 800-meter race.
