On Thursday, Feb. 25, members of Mont Harmon Middle School’s music programs performed various songs for the public in preparation for their upcoming competition. The songs ranged from folk tunes such as “Scarborough Fair” and “The Water is Wide” to more contemporary and classical choices such as “Maple Leaf Rag” and even a toccata. Two concerts were held Thursday night, one for students performing vocal numbers and another for instrumental numbers.

The concert was hosted to help prepare participating students for the upcoming Solo & Ensemble competition, which will take place Thursday at USU Eastern and feature students from across the region. Students are judged on a number of criteria ranging from tonal quality to posture and assigned a score based on their performance as a whole.
