Saturday was busy as volunteers flocked to the annual United Way Day of Caring. This was a day set aside and hosted by the United Way of Eastern Utah for locals to participate in community service throughout the day.

The event began at 7:30 a.m. at Lin’s Fresh Market with a free breakfast. Along with the breakfast, there were sign-up sheets for everyone to choose a project around the community. Groups separated to different locations around town to complete their projects, which ranged from helping community members in need with their yards to cleaning up various public spaces.

Volunteers were welcomed back together at for a free lunch at Washington Park. Food was put on the grill and there was fresh watermelons from Green River, giving mention of Melon Days this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20 and 21.

During the luncheon, everyone was thanked for the service projects they participated in. There were also t-shirts available for the volunteers provided by the United Way.
