Future In Design (FIND) is a non-profit organization that you may have heard of before. The organization is gaining momentum in Castle Country and has partnered with Blacksmith International Manufacturing to train a workforce and welcome great jobs that pay well to rural Utah.

Brenda Addley of FIND reflected on the huge shift in manufacturing called the “Amazon Affect” where individuals are keen to receive their products nearly immediately, opening up many manufacturing opportunities.

Addley specializes in FIND’s Advanced Manufacturing Program and stated that bringing manufacturing back with driving wage careers will benefit individuals that call rural Utah home. FIND and Blacksmith International are on the verge of opening their second 10-week job training cohort.

FIND’s goal is to create 200 new jobs for the community to fuel the future and the organization is looking for those that are willing to learn, grow, play well with others, can work minimal oversight and take pride in their work. They are ready to welcome those that are ready to learn a new skill.

This free 10-week course is offered four times per year and consists of three-hour classes two days per week as well as two hours of “open floor” practice time hosted weekly.

The organization boasts that, with this course, an interview is guaranteed and the goal is to prepare them for that interview with Blacksmith International. During the course, those participating will be learning a number of new skills to aid them in the workforce.

These skills consist of soft skills in professionalism and hard skills in trade experience as well as opportunity for advanced courses, certificates and college credit. The course does involve sewing together fabric products on industrial machinery and those that wish to take part in the course must be 18 years of age.

“This can be a career, not just a job, opportunities for growth,” Addley encourages.

As the organization grows, they plan to welcome accounting, marketing designers, managers and more. FIND is hosting an information seminar on Thursday, April 11 beginning at 6 p.m. for those that wish to learn more. This seminar will take place at 720 West Price River Drive in the formers Bealls building. For individuals that are craving a new career or skills, attending this seminar will thoroughly explain the free training provided.
