Morgan Hands Emery First Loss of the Preseason *Photo Gallery*

The Emery Spartans were handed a narrow loss, their first of the season, at the Central Utah Basketball Preview on Friday. Morgan dealt Emery the loss, taking the game 62-60.

The contest at the Sevier Valley Center found the two teams closely matched. The break saw the Spartans behind by only three points, 28-25. Emery rallied in the third, outscoring Morgan 15-12. It was not enough as Morgan rebounded in the fourth to take the win.

Kyson Stilson and Cade Brazier led the Spartans with 14 points apiece. Stilson also notched eight rebounds, three assists and one steal in the matchup.

The following day, Emery was once again outmatched by Dixie, falling 72-50.

Dixie came out strong in the first, outscoring the Spartans 17-11. In the second quarter, Dixie continued to extend its lead, going into the break ahead 33-20. The Spartans were never able to regain control of the game, notching the loss.

Stilson once again drained 14 points for the Spartans to go along with seven rebounds, two assists and one steal. Brazier added 10 points in the effort while Tyler Butler and Easton Gordon each chipped in eight.

The Spartans will look to rebound on Wednesday as they host Carbon High in Castle Dale. The game is slated for 7 p.m.
