ECSO Press Release

October 3, 2018 – ECSO Dispatch Center received a call at 11:30 Wednesday morning from a passerby who reported a truck in a deep ravine off I-70 near the junction with SR10. With the accident being in Sevier County, ECSO notified the Sevier County Dispatch Center. Sevier County requested that Emery County also respond to the accident. There were two men in the truck that had rolled near the top of the I-70 eastbound on ramp.

Due to the muddy, steep terrain, rope rescue was necessary to transport the men to the ambulance. Both men were evaluated by EMTs at the scene. It did not appear that either of the men had life-threatening injuries. They were then transported by ambulance to Castleview Hospital in Price for further evaluation. Involved in this response were UHP, Sevier County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management, Sevier County SAR, Emery County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management, Emery County SAR, Emery Ambulance, Utah DNR and Utah DEM.

A lot of these responders had trained together prior to this accident. This is a good example of multiple agencies working together for a positive outcome. UHP is investigating the accident. Both men were wearing seat belts, which undoubtedly saved them from more serious injury or death.
