On Tuesday night, Carbon School District hosted a “Strength in Family” program for all families within the district to attend. The night consisted of various workshops that focused on ways that parents can support their students in school and help them excel. The event coordinator was Carbon High School senior Nick Kiahtipes, who worked closely with school district officials to make the event a success.

The night consisted of a family dinner, followed by parent workshops and guest speakers as well as activities for children. FCCLA members entertained children while parents attended workshops such as “Parents Empowered,” “Stretching a Dollar/Finances” and “Communication With Your Child.”

The goal of the event was for parents to gain a better understanding of their importance in student success. Carbon School District realizes that without positive and supportive home atmospheres, students will struggle to keep up and excel in the classroom.
