The Spartans played three straight days at home this week. On Tuesday, Emery welcomed North Sanpete and found itself in a 3-0 hole after three innings. Brax Jensen singled to start off the fourth and then Luke Stilson doubled to put two runners in a scoring position. Oakley Alton came through with an RBI single and Ryker Jensen hit an RBI groundout to pull the Spartans within one, 3-2.

Emery allowed five singles in the top of the fifth and the Hawks regained their three-point lead. The Spartans matched North Sanpete in the bottom half with five singles and two runs scored.

Trailing by one in the bottom of the sixth, Ryker led things off with a double. Bron Gordon and Tyler Stilson followed it up with two singles to load the bases with no outs. Jace Mangum reached on an error and two runners scored to give the Spartans the lead.

Ryker came in to close out the game in the seventh. He pitched around two leadoffs walked with a double play. He induced the final out, stranding runners at the corners as Emery came back to win 6-5.

Wednesday’s contest against Payson did not go as well. The Lions struck with four runs in the first, two in the second, four in third and three in the fourth. Emery managed one run off of Ryker Jensen’s RBI single in the fourth but that was it. The Lions prevailed 14-1.

Uintah came to town on Thursday. It was a similar story to the day before as the Utes struck for multiple runs in multiple innings. The Spartans struggled to string hits together on offense and fell 11-0.
