In February, the Green River Medical Center received its provisional license from the Utah Division of Professional Licensing. The notice of the award arrived on March 8, giving the medical center permission to move forward with its new pharmacy.

There were many obstacles to overcome before construction could begin, including permission to construct, construction of the area, licensure at the state and national levels, training for the pharmacy technicians, purchase of equipment, computer setup, credentialing with insurance companies and more.

This announcement has highly anticipated for the locals of Green River. Currently, prescriptions can only be filled out of town or mailed the next day to the medical center for pickup, leaving many residents driving at least an hour to retrieve prescriptions.

The grand opening for the pharmacy is anticipated to be May 6.
