The Green River City Council met for its monthly meeting on Tuesday.

The hot item of discussion was the Plein Air contest. The dates for submissions are May 31 through June 10. The exhibit will be June 13-15 at the John Wesley Powell Museum with an artist reception on June 15 at 6 p.m.

The discussion revolved around how the contest has an opportunity to grow into a major event and become an art weekend in Green River, and how it is bringing in artists from neighboring communities.

The grand prize is worth $2,100 with the hopes of attracting more artists. Plein Air is the art of painting outdoors. With the contest, all art submission must be painted within Emery County.
