Helper artist Kate Kilpatrick-Miller appeared before the Price City Council on Wednesday. Rather than teach the council about strokes or display some of her work though, the local painter was there to report on the Helper Arts & Craft Festival and to accept a donation from the city.

“I came tonight to thank you for adding us to your Price City budget,” Kilpatrick-Miller, who serves as co-director of the festival, expressed. “I wanted to let you know what we’re doing and where that money is going. Our theme this year is ‘Our Heritage: Our Culture’ to pull in all the diversity that’s within this area as well as the strength of our artistic community in Helper as well as in Price and other parts of Carbon County.”

“We are adding film to the festival this year,” Kilpatrick-Miller announced, mentioning that several film festivals will be offering viewings of select videos for the festival.

“We also are working with some Price businesses,” she stated and explained how, along with Bicyclewerks, the festival will be taking advantage of various paths and forming informal mountain bike rides as well as road rides this year.

Kilpatrick-Miller continued in speaking about how other local businesses have been involved and discussed possible advertising within the city.

At the end of Kilpatrick-Miller’s presentation, the council approved the awarding of a previously budgeted $1,500 to the festival.
