During the Price City Council on Wednesday evening, Price City Fire Chief Fitzgerald Petersen was highlighted not only once, but twice.

At the beginning of the meeting, Price Mayor Mike Kourianos called Petersen to the stand along with his four-legged-friend Pilot, who took an oath of office for the fire department as a K9 unit. Cheerful applause filled the room as Pilot “signed” the document presented by city recorder Sherrie Gordon.

Chief Petersen was then invited to stay behind the podium to receive a recognition award. The city council invited Shauna Fassett to the podium as well. Petersen was nominated by six community members for the commitments he has made in keeping a safe workplace. He’d been successful with the challenge and was congratulated by all those present.

To end the meeting, the council approved the motion to give Santa Claus an air space permit. Now, Santa will be able to deliver gifts to everyone in the Price City area late Dec. 24 through early Dec. 25. Councilman Layne Miller expressed gratitude during the discussion, saying how important this motion was to approve.
