Randolph Howard Sorensen

Randolph Howard Sorensen of Spanish Fork, Utah , left this earthly life on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 surrounded by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn, and their six children.

Randy was born May 4, 1944 to Howard and Elsie Sorensen of Emery, Utah.  He learned early in life about working hard, as he worked on the ranch his father and uncles owned.

Randy graduated from Emery High School in 1962.  In May of 1964, he began two years of service in the Northern Indian Mission in South Dakota.

In the fall of 1966, while attending BYU, Randy met Carolyn Smith, of Boise, on a blind date.  Randy and Carolyn were married on August 7, 1968.  They lived for a short time in Tooele and American Fork, and then were long-time residents in Salina, Riverton, and Spanish Fork, Utah.

Randy retired in 2014 from Staker Parson, where he had been a crusher operator.  This had been his profession for over 40 years.

Randy was a life-long active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various callings including, Bishop’s Counselor, and in the Sunday School Presidency.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; six children, Jennifer (Richard) Garn of Taylorsville, Amy (Sean) Lyon of West Jordan, John (Valerie) of Herriman, Becca (Joel) Nelson of West Valley, Mindy (Daniel) Shipley of Rigby, ID, DJ (Melissa) of Spanish Fork; sister, Beverly Stone and 19 grandchildren that he loved and adored.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Jonathon and Brooklyn.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Maple Meadows 2nd Ward Chapel, 1911 East 1850 South, Spanish Fork, Utah.  Family and friends may visit on Tuesday evening, November 6, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 187 S. Main Street, Spanish Fork, and on Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
