Raptors Pick up First Win of Season in Colorado Tourney

The Price American Legion Raptors went 1-3 over the weekend in the Knights’ Invitational tournament in Green River, WY. The win marked the team’s first win of the season.

In the wood bat only tournament, Price lost to host Green River, WY A 7-1, beat Green River, WY B 9-1, was tripped up by Steamboat Springs 7-4 then lost its last game to Jackson Hole on Sunday, 7-0.

Remington Motte scored the only run in the Raptors’ game against Green River A on Friday after getting on base with a single in the sixth inning. Christian McLean was credited with the RBI single that scored Motte later in the inning. Motte was 3-3 in the game with three singles. Price had nine hits in the game, all singles.

Price scored a season-high nine runs against Green River B, in game two of the tournament. Despite registering just three singles in the game, the Raptors took advantage of eight walks to earn the win in game one on Saturday. Stetson Motte, Remington Motte and Eric Rutherford had the hits in the game. Jaxson Carlisle got the win on the mound.

In their second game on Saturday, the Raptors had three players tally two hits apiece in the 7-4 defeat to Steamboat Springs. Stetson Motte, Liam Bloomer and Carlisle each had two singles to lead the team. Price was issued seven walks in the game, leading to all three runs scored.

In Sunday’s tournament clincher, Jackson Hole kept Price’s bats quiet, issuing just two hits in the game while only walking two batters for the 7-0 win. Alyjah Ellington had both hits for the Raptors.

Price will host Corner Canyon for a doubleheader on Friday at USU Eastern.
