On Thursday, Jan. 10, the Carbon County Senior Center will host AARP’s next Driver Safety Class from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Recently, a senior driver said: “I’ve been driving for years, what can this course teach me?”

By completing this four-hour class, senior drivers will learn research-based strategies that can reduce the likelihood of having a crash, develop a better understanding of the links between the driver, vehicle and road environment as well as how this awareness encourages safer driving behavior.

Participants will also learn how medications, vision, hearing and reaction time have an effect on drivers as they age and ways to adjust to these conditions. Discussion will also include information about the changes in the newer vehicles and the changes in the roads we drive on as well as the many new state driving laws.

Upon completing the course, participants will be given a certificate to present to their insurance agent to receive a discount on their auto insurance that is in effect for three years.

When both spouses complete the class, both will receive the discount. The cost of the class is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. No tests will be given in the class or actual driving. Contact the center to register at (435) 636-3202.
