Rich and Uintah Rodeo Clubs hosted weekend rodeos in Vernal. Kolton and Kagen Rhodes scored high in the rifle shoot on both Friday and Saturday. Kolton ranked first and second and Kagen fifth and fourth. They both did very well in the trap shoot. Kagen walked away with a second and fourth and Kolton was eighth on Saturday. Also adding points to her state standing was Carbon team member, Sierra Edwards. She placed eighth and sixth in pole bending on Friday and Saturday.
Emery team member adding points to his standings in trap shoot was Trinity Payne, who tied for third place. Breakaway roping points were achieved by Jessie McElprang, ninth, and AnnDee Belliston, 10th. Team roping placings include Dax Hall and Cody Wilstead, third, Jessie McElprang and Drake Weber, ninth, and Korby Christiansen and Sammy Taylor, 10th. Reining cow horse scores for Korby Christiansen and Drake Weber were high enough for seventh and eighth, respectively. AnnDee Belliston also secured third place in the barrel racing event.
High school rodeo now takes a weekend off, Sept. 1 and 2, while the junior high school teams compete in Nephi Friday afternoon and Saturday.
