Seven Lady Spartans Receive All-State Honors

The Deseret News All-State Teams were released on Thursday afternoon. Seven members of the 3A State Softball runner up team, the Lady Spartans, would receive the honor. The girls had an excellent season going down to the championship game in the 2023-24 season.

Brooklyn Ekker was awarded First Team for her excellent all-around play. She led the team with 10 Doubles and 34 Runs, as well as a 0.421 Batting Average, 0.466 On Base Percentage, 40 Hits, 26 RBIs, 12 Stolen Bases, 0.631 Slugging Percentage, two Triples and two Home Runs for the senior.

Katelyn Nielson also received First Team honors as a junior. Nielson ended the season leading the team with a 0.472 Batting Average, 0.510 On Base Percentage, eight Home Runs, 42 Hits, 33 RBIs and a 0.887 Slugging Percentage. As well as 26 Runs, nine Doubles, two Triples and 12 Stolen Bases.

Kallee Lake led the team in Earned Run Average with 2.03 and 105 Strikeouts for the dynamic pitcher, after an excellent season on the mound. Shannon Johnson received Second Team honors as she led the team in Fielding Percentage with 0.967, as well as 12 Stolen Bases, 0.348 Batting Average, 33 Runs, 32 Hits, 12 RBIs, four Doubles and two Triples for the senior. Junior, Kali Jensen also received Second Team honors as she led the team with four Triples on the year, as well as eight Stolen Bases, 0.418 Batting Average, 30 Runs, 38 Hits, 23 RBIs and four Doubles.

Junior Madi Bunnell was awarded 3A Honorable Mention as she led the team in Stolen Bases with 17. Bunnell also earned a 0.301 Batting Average, 30 Runs, 25 Hits, 17 RBIs, four Doubles, a Triple and three Home Runs. Sophomore Rheagan Rhoton also received Honorable Mention honors. Rhoten ended the year with 30 Strikeouts on the mound, as well as a 0.333 Batting Average, 27 Hits, six Runs, six Doubles and four Home Runs.
