Spartan Track Competes At State

Ten Spartans who qualified for state competition competed Track and Field State Championships May 20-21.

The girl’s 4×100 relay team of Catherine Dyer, Hailee Rogers, Jessica Guymon and Blayr Jeffs ran an impressive 51.66 to place sixth.

The girl’s 4×400 team of Catherine Dyer, Hannah Dyer, Rogers and Guymon ran 4:23.33 to finish 13th.

Jacee Bird ran the 3200m in 13:46.55.

Spencer Fehlberg ran the 1600m in 4:53.72. He also ran the 800m in 2:01.72 to place 13th.

The boy’s 4×400 team ran a season-best time of 3:38.43 placing 15th. В David Dyer, Brendon Jorgenson, Fehlberg, and Scott Jackson comprised the team.

Jeffs placed fourth in the long jump at 16’08”.

Whitney Withers threw in the shot put trials for 27’11.50”. She also threw for 90’11.25” in the discus trials.

Jorgenson jumped for 19’09.75” in the long jump.

Spartan Coaches commented that they were pleased with the many successes the team had despite a lack of numbers and experience. They are looking forward to competing in 2A next year. Overall, the coaches enjoyed preparing for State throughout the season. They appreciated the hard work and effort of those who made it to state.
