Fourteen high school teams met in Tooele on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Tooele Swim Invitational. Two of the 14 teams were 4A schools while the rest of the field was comprised of schools from 1A to 3A.

The Emery relay teams won the 400 free event in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions. The boys’ relay team also finished first in the 200 medley. The Carbon and Emery girls’ relay teams placed second behind Tooele in both the 200 free and 200 medley, respectively. The Lady Dinos also finished second in the 400 free relay.

Some of the individual events had over 80 competitors. The Guymons represented the Spartans well in their meets. Keldan Guymon beat out his competition in the 50 free and 100 breast as Haley Guymon took the 100 breast in the girls’ division. Carbon’s Megan Swasey was the runner-up in both the 50 free and 100 backstroke.

Emery head coach Andrea Johansen was excited with her teams’ effort and results. “Both the girls and boys team headed into the meet ready to race,” she said. “This was evident in the way both relays performed. There were some close races; it was an exciting meet.”

After 22 events, Tooele finished first and Emery second in both boys’ and girls’ ranking. Carbon ended up right behind Emery in the girls’ division to take third overall but finished 11th in the boys’ division.

Next up, Emery will host Grand and Millard on Thursday. The meet will be available for live viewing here.
