Spartans Battle Back, Secure Road Win

The Emery High Spartan basketball team overcame an 11-point, first-quarter deficit to win 63-54 Wednesday at Union.

Emery trailed 19-8 after the first, but stormed back with a 23-13 second quarter to reduce the deficit to one at the half.

Emery dominated the free throw line and pulled away in the second half. Emery shot 30-for-40 from the charity stripe. Union hit just 18-of-29 free throws.

Dallon Cologie led all scorers with 21 points. Dawson Jensen and Corbin Barnett added 14 and 11 points, respectively, for the Spartans.

Emery improved to 4-5 on the season. Emery visits South Sevier on Friday and plays host to Carbon at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Emery vs. Carbon tilt will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10.
