The Emery Spartans held on long enough Friday afternoon in a 6-4 win over the San Juan Broncos in Blanding.

Dillon Wilstead once again carried the Spartans and improved his unblemished pitching record to 5-0.

Emery scored a run in the first inning but didn’t score again until the fifth when it scored three runs to take a 4-1 lead. The Spartans added two more in the seventh inning before San Juan made it interesting by scoring three in the bottom half of the same frame.

Ethan Tuttle and Tanner Lake both doubled in the game.

With a win at South Sevier Tuesday, Emery and Grand would be named co-champions of Region 12. Grand lost to Monticello 10-5 on Friday and finished league play with an 8-2 record. Emery and Grand split the season series at one game apiece.

A coin toss would determine playoff seeding for each team.
