Spartans Blow Wildcats Out of the Water at Recent Meet

The Emery High boys’ and girls’ swim teams traveled to Richfield on Wednesday and took home first-place finishes each from the bout of action.

The Lady Spartans blew past their opponents, scoring a total of 118 points at the event. Alexis Johansen, Angellena Migliori, Kaelee Hooley and Sydney Terwilleger brought home the first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:20.30. Emery continued to dominate with the team of Alejandra Garcia, Harmony Willson, Eme Oliverson and Shiloh Hayward taking second and third place being snagged by Raegan Sitterud, Jenny Funk, Makyan Nielson and Joecee Funk.

Lady Spartan BriAnne Bass swam to a first-place finish and time of 2:27.77 while Terwilleger returned to take second and Brynne Urie took third in the 200-yard freestyle. Hooley took second in the 200-yard IM with Abigail Olsen taking third in the same event.

Erin Oliverson and Laci Hulse also represented Emery in the 50-yard freestyle, coming in second and third, respectively. In the 100-yard butterfly, Hayward and Nielson brought home a second and third as well.

Johansen returned to take second in the 100-yard freestyle, with Hooley taking third. Erin Oliverson grabbed a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 7:13.36 with Terwilleger and Urie coming in behind.

Bass, Hooley, Terwilleger and Erin Oliverson grabbed a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with their 2:02.73 time while Emery’s team composed of Jenny Funk, Garcia, Jocee Funk and Abigail Olsen managed third.

Johansen managed a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:15.11 with Bass grabbing second as well. Migliori grabbed a first in the 100-yard breaststroke, 1:25.40, with Laci Hulse and Willson taking second and third, respectively.

Emery managed a first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with team members Migliori, Erin Oliverson, Johansen and Bass working together to bring home first with a 4:40.39 finish. Team members Olsen, Hayward, Eme Oliverson and Nielson brought home third in the same event.

The Spartans similarly walked away victorious over the Wildcats, bringing home first and a total of 105 points from Wednesday’s action.

Nate Gilbert, Daryl Guymon, Deegan Minchey and Keldan Guymon brought home a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay and a time of 1:57.12. Parker Stilson, Eli Beagley, Malone Moss and Jonathan Seely walked away with third in the same event.

Daryl Guymon brought home another first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:55.99 with teammate Garret Stilson grabbing second.

Keldan Guymon shone in the 200-yard IM, grabbing first in 2:16.90 with Stilson grabbing third. Nate Gilbert managed first in the 50-yard freestyle with his final time of 24.16 while teammate Logan Cox grabbed third.

Deegan Minchey walked away with second in the 100-yard butterfly while Keldan Guymon grabbed first place in the 100-yard freestyle, 53.99, with Logan Cox coming in third.

Garret Stilson grabbed first in the 500-yard freestyle, coming in at 5:55.53 while Moss grabbed second in the event as well. The 200-yard freestyle relay team made up of Daryl Guymon, Stilson, Cox and Keldan Guymon also brought home first-place finish with 1:39.06.

Minchey and Gilbert also represented Emery in the 100-yard backstroke placing first and second, respectively. Minchey clocked in at 1:07.60.

Daryl Guymon came in first in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:06.41. The 400-yard freestyle relay team made up of Minchey, Stilson, Cox and Gilbert grabbed another first for Emery with a time of 3:56.53. Stilson, Moss, Allen Durrant and Gage Jensen also came in second during the relay.
