Spartans Finish Third in Soldier Hollow Tournament

The Emery Spartans traveled to Soldier Hollow golf course, the home of this year’s state competition, for a tournament on Tuesday. The team took third out of six teams in the tournament.

“They seemed to enjoy the course,” said head coach Kevin Reynolds. “I thought they played really well.”

McKoy Holt led the team with 83 points. Freshman Oakley Toomer took the second slot for the Spartans with 85 followed by Kyler Farley with 92. Race Nielsen rounded out Emery’s scoring with 95 points. Deryk Fuller and Shayden Killpack also took to the course for the Spartans, hitting 96 and 101, respectively.

The team will kickoff the first day of school by traveling to Moab as Grand hosts a tournament on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
