Emery was on the road for its first region game of the season against South Sevier on Friday.

The Spartans did not finish out the first quarter well and found themselves down six, 18-12. Emery went into the half down by 10 and tried to battle back all game.

In the forth quarter, the Spartans pulled within six, 69-63, after Brax Jensen was fouled on a layup. However, it was South Sevier’s night as they shot 49% from the field. Kaetz King, Peydon Wood and Brandt Williams could not be stopped. They recorded the vast majority of the Rams’ points with 28, 27 and 23, respectively.

Jordan Ekker came off the bench and hit three three-pointers but it was not enough as the Spartans fell, 83-72. After the holiday break, Emery (7-2, 0-1 Region 15) will be back at it when they host a region game against the Richfield Wildcats (4-4, 0-0 Region 15) on Jan. 4.
