Spartans Nab Top Two Spots, Finish Strong at Home Meet

Chase Christiansen and Erin Hurst finished atop their respective leaderboards Tuesday afternoon, leading the Emery Spartans to a strong showing at their only home cross country meet of the year. Pinnacle boys finished with fifth place with a team total of 134 points. The girls took fourth with 110 points.

Christiansen finished with a time of 16:57, 16 seconds in front of second place finisher Ty Funk, also an Emery Spartan. Emery’s McKay Maccariello and Tanyon Allred took third and fourth, respectively. The Spartans finished with 19 points, 36 points in front of second place Manti with 55.

Hurst again took the top spot for Emery with a time of 19:42. The Spartans then finished 11th (Belle Bowers) and 13th-15th (Katelyn Hurst, Emily Ussery and Tarryn Parkins).

The Spartans will next take part in a meet in Sanpete County next Wednesday.
