Manti capitalized on six turnovers to spoil Emery’s 2A North opener 28-0 at Manti on Friday.
Special teams play continued to haunt Emery as a bad snap from punt formation allowed Manti to recover the ball in the end zone for a touchdown before Manti’s offense ever stepped onto the field.
A 44-yard touchdown run on Manti’s opening possession put the Templars up 14-0 after just five minutes of play.
Emery’s offense never got going as the Manti defense forced a total of three fumbles and three interceptions.
The Spartan defense held Manti to 14 points over the final three quarters.
Emery next visits North Sevier Friday at 7 p.m.
