Stansbury held the Emery High Lady Spartan basketball team to single-digit points in three of four quarters and defeated Emery 52-37 Tuesday in Castle Dale.

Stansbury opened with a 17-9 first quarter and continued to build on the lead throughout the game.

Jeridi Price led and anemic Emery offense with 13 points. Erica Alvey and Kendal Levine scored 16 points each for the Stallions.

Emery head coach Dean Stilson praised his team for trying to make adjustments on the fly.

“The girls are working hard,” Stilson said. “They’re trying to transition to a new coach and some new things, and they’re working hard. I appreciate that. They’re a good group of girls.”

Emery dropped to 1-7 on the season. The loss was the Spartans seventh straight after winning the season opener.

The Lady Spartans next visit North Sanpete Thursday.

The game was broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 and will be rebroadcast in the coming weeks.
