Stingrays Host Barracudas in Emery

On June 25, the Emery County Aquatic Center played host to a youth swim meet featuring the Emery County Stingrays and the Castle Valley Barracudas. Both swim teams competed strongly in five different age groups in various different styles of swimming.

Starting with the eight years and under girls’ group, for the Barracudas, Lydia Irvine had a great day finishing first in 25 Free, 25 Back, 25 Butterfly and 50 Free. Her teammate Nettie Swaysey finished closely behind Irvine in the 25 Free, as well as the 50 Free. For the Stingrays, Emery Parrish finished first in the 25 Breast and third in both the 25 Back and 25 Free. Avri Parrish claimed the second spot in the 25 Back. In the boys’ eight and under division, Finn Arthur took the top spot in both the 25 Free and 25 Butterfly for the Barracudas. His teammate Amin Halk claimed the new team record in the 25 Breast with a first-place finish, also winning in the 50 Free.

Heading into the nine to 10 age group for the girl’s, Eliza Irvine would claim the top spot in all her events, including 50 Free, 100 Free and getting the new team record in the 50 Breast for the Barracudas. Her teammate Jacee Frandsen placed first in the 25 Back, as well as second in both the 50 Free and 50 Breast. For the Stingrays, Sawyer Truman placed second in the 50 Back, followed by Tatum Lake in third. Lexi Daley would get third in the 50 Free and Annabelle Jeffs claimed third in the 50 Breast.

Staying with the Stingrays, in the nine to 10 boy’s group, Luke Bell claimed the top spot in the 50 Back. His teammate Bridger Tuttle placed first in the 50 Free, followed by Carter Lake in the two spot. Liam Whitesel competed in the 50 Back, placing in second. For the Barracudas, Baden Arthur received first place in the 100 IM and second place in the 25 Butterfly. Grant Luke secured the top spot in the 50 Breast, as well as third in both the 50 Back and 100 Free. Bingham Bradford finished in second in the 50 Back and placed third in the 50 Free. Porter Hansen claimed third in both the 100 Free and the 50 Back in the division.

Onto the girl’s 11 to 12 group, starting with the Stingrays, Kate Bell placed first in the 100 IM. Her teammates Bryann Souder placed second in the 50 Back and Abbie Gardner placed third. For the Barracudas, Maeve Bradford had a great performance in her events, finishing first in the 50 Free, 100 IM and 50 Breast. She also placed second in the 10 Free. Susannah Irvine would keep the Irvine wins continuing with first place in the 100 Free, 50 Butterfly and a third place in the 100 IM. Genevieve Halk claimed the top spot in the 50 Back, second in the 100 IM and third in the 50 Free.

For the 11 to 12 boy’s group, starting with the Barracudas, Carson Bower had a solid showing, claiming the top spot in the 50 Free and the 100 Free. He would also get a new team record as he placed first in the 50 Breast. His teammate William Kepsel also would claim a new team record in the 50 Butterfly, as well as placing second in the 50 Free. Gavin Wilcox claimed the two spot in the 50 Back and Tucker Hansen placed third in the 50 Butterfly. Collin Dimick would get second-place in 100 IM and third in the 50 Breast with solid improvements on his time.

For the Stingrays in the 100 IM, Devin Thomas secured the top position in the event, as well as third place in the 50 Free. In the 50 Back, Ethan Mills claimed the number one spot, with his teammate Reese Olsen placing in the third spot. Ryder Christiansen received second place in the 50 Butterfly and second in the 100 Free, with teammate Collin Robinson in the third spot.

Moving to the 13 to 14 girl’s group for the Stingrays, Hallie Frandsen had a fantastic day, placing first in the 50 Free, 100 Breast and the 100 Free. Kate Bell placed second in the 100 Free and Sydni Lake placed in second as well in the 100 Back.

Continuing with the Stingrays in the boy’s 13 to 14 group, Haylen Willis claimed the top spot in the 100 Breast. For the Barracudas, Isaac Swasey was solid, finishing first in both the 50 Free and the 100 Free. Asher Thayn secured a first in the 100 IM and two second place finishes in the 50 Free and 100 Free. Brylie Horsely claimed first in the 50 Butterfly, as well as second in the 50 Free and third in the 100 Free.

Finishing with the 15 to 18 age group, for the Stingray boys, Jack Bell placed first in the 100 Breast and claimed second in the 50 Free. Jamison Christiansen placed first in both the 50 Free and 100 Free.  Staying with the Stingrays, Morgan Mills placed second in the 100 Breast in the girl’s division. For the Barracuda Girls, Maya Bower swam well, placing first in the 200 Free, 100 Breast and the 100 Free. Hadley Bower secured top spots in 100 Free and the 50 Free, placing second in the 200 Free. Ada Bradford received the top spot in the 100 Back and second in the 50 Free.

The teams will face off once more this summer on July 9, at the Desert Wave Pool at 4 p.m.
