Price City Police Department Press Release

Price City officers were on the alert for a stolen 2016 Nissan Juke out of Tooele, UT. On Sunday about 12 p.m., Price City Officers Brandon Rigby and Cameron Sartori received a citizen tip that the vehicle might be in a southeast Price neighborhood. The officers located the vehicle, noted it now had a Colorado plate on it. Upon checking, officers discovered the Colorado plate was listed as stolen from Englewood, Colo., and belonged to a Nissan Rogue SUV.

The officers maintained a visual surveillance on the vehicle, and a short time later, the vehicle pulled away from the residence with four individuals in it. The officers stopped the vehicle on south Rose Ave. A short time later, Carbon County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Mike Hreinson and Andy Leonard arrived on scene to assist, and eventually would transport two arrested persons to the jail while the officers remained to process the scene.

Two backseat passengers were identified and released from the scene. It had been determined they had just been picked up for a ride.

The driver of the vehicle, Amuel Lee Sheffield, DOB 7-17-83, and the right front passenger, Jimmie Sue Brand, DOB 5-1-90, are both from Price and are allegedly married. It was immediately noted that Sheffield currently had two unrelated statewide warrants, and Brand had one herself, and they were placed under arrest for the warrants, and possession of the stolen vehicle. Both subjects allegedly opted to speak with officers and were cooperative.  They acknowledged receiving the vehicle in Tooele, having it about a week, which included their trip to Colorado.

Upon searching the vehicle, personal use amounts of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located.

Both Sheffield and Brand were booked into the CCSO jail for a second degree felony charge of receiving a stolen vehicle as well as receiving stolen property (for the Colorado plate), possession of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Carbon County Attorney will review the report to determine appropriate formal charges.

Price City officers have been in touch with the Englewood Police Department and the Tooele Police Department in connection with their respective investigations.

According to court records, Sheffield has 17 previous arrests. His previous arrests are for assault, several aggravated assaults, theft related issues, drug offenses and a previous unlawful possession of a vehicle charge. According to court records, Brand has 11 previous arrests. These include charges for assault, theft and drug charges.
