Press Release

The Seven County Infrastructure Coalition (Coalition) plans to file a request with the Surface Transportation Board (Board) for authority to construct and operate an approximately 80-mile rail line to connect the Uinta Basin to the interstate rail network.

The Board’s Office of Environmental Analysis (OEA) is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement to analyze the potential environmental impacts of the proposed rail line.

OEA held six public scoping meetings in the project area in July 2019 to provide the public with opportunities to learn more about the project and provide input on the environmental review process.

Since the conclusion of the public scoping meetings, OEA has extended the public comment period. Interested parties are invited to file scoping comments. Electronic and written comments must be received and/or postmarked by Sept. 3 to assure full consideration during the scoping process.

For more information, including how to file written comments, please visit the board-sponsored website at: www.UintaBasinRailwayEIS.com.
