The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) presented an update on the single vehicle accident that took place at Pinnacle Peak on Wednesday.

A total of eight Carbon County youth were involved in the accident, which involved a Chevy Tahoe that was engulfed in flames upon first responders arrival at the scene. This was due to fuel that was expelled when the vehicle rolled. Fire crews worked quickly and were able to contain the flames before more injury occurred.

All eight of the youth that was involved in the accident were transferred to Castleview Hospital in Price either by ambulance or parents. The hospital treated six of the youth while two of them were transferred to another facility.

Of the six that were treated, all were reported as released from the hospital. Status on the two transported has not been released due to patient confidentiality. The CCSO stated that the cause of the accident has not yet been determined, though no citations were issued as it was discovered that drugs and alcohol were not a factor.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to take this opportunity to remind the public when incidents happen and agency response is needed please stay clear of the road and access to the scene. While we know that the public means well, it can hinder the response if access is limited,” the CCSO concluded.
