On Thursday afternoon, 34 sixth, seventh and eighth grade students participated in Canyon View Middle School’s annual spelling bee.

After four rounds of competition, Jexton Woodhouse became the overall school winner as well as the eighth grade champion speller. Also representing Canyon View at the district spelling bee will be sixth grade winner Dazi Thatcher and seventh grade student Kimball Black.

The contest was judged by members of the community council for the school and the Canyon View librarian. Mrs. Winget pronounced the words for the spellers.

The district spelling bee will be hosted at the Little Theatre in the Spartan Center at Emery High on Feb. 6.
