Join the Castle Valley Archaeological Society on a tour of Spring Canyon ghost towns on Thursday, Aug. 16. The outing will include up-close looks at the canyon’s old coal camps and several rock art panels.

“Once a bustling collection of coal camps, ghost towns are all that remain of the communities that prospered here in the past. Legend has it that actual ghosts still inhabit the canyon to this day,” the organization shared. “We plan to explore what’s left of these coal camps as well as several ancient rock art panels along the way.”

Those interested in taking part in the event should plan to meet at Swift Stop & Shop, located at 156 N. Main Street, in Helper at 7 p.m. From there, the group will caravan to Spring Canyon.
