The Dino golf team continued its winning ways as Carbon hosted the fifth tournament of the season at the Carbon Country Club Golf Course on Thursday. Carbon improved to 5-0 on the year and were led by Ryker Smith, who saved his best performance of the year for the home crowd, posting a four under round of 66.

Smith was followed around the course by many family members and friends who where there to support his last region tournament for the Dino’s.

“Any time you hit a 66, you have to be hitting it pretty good and putting well,” said King. “Ryker had a very good round today.”

Brady Gagon had a solid score 75. Ryan Gagon played well in his final showing for Carbon with a score of 79 and Carson Martines also turned in a score of 79, which tied both for fourth in the tournament. Zade Carrillo shot an 87 while Kaden Slavensky finished with 89.

The Carbon team had a season low team score of 299, which was 18 shots better than second place Providence Hall, who recorded a 317. Delta took third with 339 followed by ALA showing a 369, Juab with 374 and Maeser ending up with 448.

The Dinos will head to Nephi next to play the Canyon Hills, which is the home course for Juab. With two tournaments remaining in the 2017 season, the Carbon Dinos will be focusing on winning Region 14. After completing the regular season, the Dinos will have an opportunity to fine tune their skills as they host the Eastern Utah Cup on Sept. 28 and then get ready for state on Oct. 4-5 in Richfield.
