*UPDATE* USU Eastern Men Lose to CSI in NJCAA Tournament

The USU Eastern men’s basketball team advanced to the semifinals in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 18 Tournament Thursday afternoon. Eastern pulled out the win in the final 10 minutes of play, winning the game 86-79 against Snow College.

Alioune Tew finished with a double-double, 10 rebounds and 14 points. Jameni Neely was top in offense with 20. Kendahl Amerson and Travon Lanston chipped in 15 each.

The men then faced College of Southern Idaho Friday night in the semifinal round of the Region 18 conference tournament. The were not able to hold on and lost 86-77 to CSI to end their season.

The Eastern women did not fair as well and are out of the tournament after an 82-77 loss to the Snow Badgers. Shantaya Strebel put up 13 points and was the only player to hit double figures. The game was tight throughout, but Snow pulled out the win, hitting free throws down the stretch.
