The USU Eastern men’s basketball team hosted Impact Academy on Friday and Saturday. The two-game sweep propelled the Golden Eagles to 9-3 in preseason play.

The team came out strong on Friday night against Impact. USU Eastern built a double-digit lead in less than five minutes of play after Nathaniel Wright made a jumper to increase the lead 16-6. The Eagles’ offensive onslaught continued, which took the team into the break, 58-22. USU Eastern did not let up in the second as it finished the game shooting 56% from the floor en route to a 119-47 win.

Andre Hogan led the team off the bench with 18 points, followed by Wright with 16. The team knocked down 13 three-point buckets and blocked six shots on the night.

Saturday’s game showed much of the same for USU Eastern. Despite an increased offensive output from Impact Academy, the Eagles still ran away with a 121-75 win. USU Eastern led at the half by 25.

Hogan once again led the team, notching a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Hamdi Karoui and Wright both chipped in 16 to cap off the win.

The men’s basketball team will welcome Salt Lake Community College to kickoff region play at home Thursday. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Snow College will then travel to Price for a matchup on Saturday at 5 p.m.
