USU Eastern’s Whitney Fieldsted drew a late second-half charge and nailed two clutch free-throws Friday night to seal a comeback win against the College of Southern Idaho, 59-56.

Eastern Head Coach Steve Paur said the bench was key in the win.

“I thought Fieldsted came off the bench and did a pretty good job,” he said. “I think the ones that came off the bench were the ones that won this game.”

The Golden Eagles have won two of three games against Southern Idaho this season and sit in a three-way tie for third place in the conference standings. Eastern, CSI and SLCC all sit at 7-7 in league play with one game remaining before the conference tournament next weekend in Salt Lake City. The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 15-14.

Eastern will host it’s season finale Saturday against North Idaho at 3 p.m. The Cardinals come in the seventh-ranked team in the nation.
