USUE Men’s Soccer Splits With Snow

PRICE, UTAH – Utah State Eastern men’s soccer picked up a win Friday and a loss Saturday against the Snow College Badgers in Ephraim.

The Eagles defeated Snow on Friday 2-1 after freshman Frank DeBry scored the game winning goal in the second half.

Snow’s Luis Miguel scored an unassisted goal in the first four minutes of the game to put the Badgers up 1-0 early. Twenty minutes later, sophomore Jae Partridge scored from outside the box to tie the game up at 1-1.

Sophomore keeper Austin Munoz picked up 11 saves in the game and prevented the Badgers from scoring again. The Badgers outshot the Eagles 36-14 in Friday’s game.

DeBry put the game winning goal in as a header with an assist from Guillermo Hernandez in the 71′ minute of the game.

The next day the Eagles fell to the Badgers 2-1.

Snow’s Sam Bamberlister scored a goal in the first half to give his team a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. After the halftime break, DeBry scored his second goal of the weekend within the first three minutes of the second half. Bamberlister would score again for the Badgers in the 76′ minute and it would end up being the game winner for Snow.

Munoz finished Saturday’s game with 10 saves while the Badgers outshot the Eagles again 30-8.

After their two games in Ephraim, the Eagles overall record sits at 5-5-2 overall with a 3-2 conference record.

After the game, Utah State Eastern head coach Ammon Bennet said that the way Snow played was something they hadn’t seen before and presented a challenge to his team.

“We really got lucky to win the game on Friday, Snow College is a very good team and they caused some problems for us,” said Bennett.

This Friday and Saturday, the Eagles will be on the road again taking on Colorado Northwest in Craig, Colo.
