PRICE, UTAH – Utah State Eastern women’s soccer lost to the Snow College Badgers on Friday and Saturday in Ephraim. The Eagles were shutout and allowed two goals to go into the net in both games.

In Friday’s game, goal keeper Shyann Jones and the USU Eastern defense held off the Badgers for almost 53 minutes of the match until two quick goals in 15 minutes gave Snow the win.

Jones finished the game with 11 saves out of 13 shots on goal while playing the entire 90 minutes. Nicole Hadlock and Sophie Stewart each put in a goal for Snow in the second half.

The Eagles returned to the pitch in Ephraim for another game against Snow and saw similar results. Hadlock scored two goals in a space of 13 minutes in the second half for Snow to put the game away. The Badgers outshot the Eagles 20 to five, including 11 shots in the second half.

Jones finished the game with eight saves on 10 shots on goal. Freshmen McKenna Wiscombe and Morgan Hall each had two shots with one shot on goal in Saturday’s game.

Despite the losses, Utah State Eastern head coach said his team has improved a little bit each game but there are still offensive struggles to overcome.

“We didn’t play bad, all four of the goals they scored were defensive mistakes on our end. If we scored first in both the games, the outcome of the game could have been different but our offensive thought needs to be better,” said Bennett.

With both losses, the Eagles drop to 6-5-1 overall and 1-4 in conference.

The Eagles will travel this weekend to Craig, Colorado to take on conference opponent Colorado Northwest on Friday and Saturday.

Next Wednesday, the Eagles will return home for their first conference game in nearly a month with a game against the College of Southern Nevada. The Eagles won and tied against CSN earlier in the season.
