Wellington Police Chief Lee Barry was hit by a drowsy driver yesterday around 3 p.m.

Chief Barry was on patrol Friday afternoon in Wellington. Barry was monitoring traffic when a vehicle crossed four lanes and collided with the police chief head on. The driver, James Skeem, 37, had fallen asleep while driving eastbound on Highway 6, causing him to swerve and hit the marked police car. Both vehicles were totaled but no serious injuries occurred.
