Yolanda Salas Lopez, 55, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away Oct. 28, 2015 at her home in Orem, Utah after a long courageous illness.

She was born in Dragerton, Utah, Oct 30, 1959, to Jose C and Dora Velasquez Salas. She was the fifth child and “baby girl” of five children. Yolanda attended Carbon High and East Carbon High, graduating from East Carbon High on May 26, 1977.

She worked for the Southeastern Utah Health Department in Price, Utah from Sept 20, 1984 to 1995, where she had many friends. She then moved to Utah County in 1995 and worked in the medical field until 2013 when she was no longer able to work due to her health.

Yolanda had many friends throughout Carbon and Utah Counties and Yolanda had the “gift of gab”! Her greatest joy was her grandson Joel who was her everything and her “little mijo”. Yolanda has two daughters Brittini Bautista and Branigan Hreinson that she adored and who took care of her until the end.

She loved her trips to Wendover whether it was with her friends on the bus, or with her dad and daughters or just anyone who wanted to go! She is survived by her daughters Brittini Bautista, Orem, Branigan (John) Hreinson, Orem, Grandson Joel Bautista, Orem, Sister Nancy Sanchez, Price, brothers Carl Salas, Salt Lake City, Art (Terri) Salas, Spring Glen, Aunt Sandra (Ken) Lobato, East Carbon, sister-in-law Nancy Jo (Lou) Shelley, many loving nieces and nephews and her cat “Sissy.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Kathy Scott and niece Jacie Beth Graham. The family wishes to thank CNS Hospice and a special thanks to Tammy Valdez. Per Yolanda’s wishes, there will be no services.
