Two Union Pacific Railroad train cars derailed on the tracks between Helper and Spring Glen Wednesday morning.

According to Aaron Hunt, Union Pacific Corporate Relations and Media Director, the hopper rail cars connected to a Salt-Lake-City-bound train derailed at about 9:45 a.m. The cars were empty at the time and no product was spilled in the area. Hunt also said no rail traffic was stopped because another line was being used to usher trains through the area.

Hunt reported minimal damage to the rail and that the rail will be closed until repairs are made. The alternate rail line will be usedВ exclusively until needed repairs are completed.

There has been no word yet as to the cause of the derailment. According to Hunt, the investigation is ongoing.
