Weather Discussion:В The ridge of high pressure over the fire will begin to shift east today as an upper level trough approaches the West coast. This will push deeper moisture into the area by Friday, with several wetting rain events possible, Friday afternoon through the weekend. Isolated flash flooding and mud/debris flows will be possible over the fire area along with cooler temperatures. |

Wednesday’s Fire Activity: Fire activity remained low across most of the fire area. Crews continued to build direct containment line on Seeley Mountain and in Cox Canyon. Handcrews burned out to improve the containment line along the west perimeter of the large spot fire on the northwest. The fire remains south of the community of Clear Creek. Smoke became visible on the south perimeter late in the day as the fire became active in the head of Vicks Canyon. This steep, rugged area continues to be cooled down with the aid of a helicopter. Air operations also monitored the main fire perimeter from the northeast to the south. Rehabilitation of dozer and handlines continued in areas where the fire is contained.
Today: Crews will continue working on direct containment lines in Cox Canyon. Mop-up and patrol will also continue using crews and aerial reconnaissance around the entire fire perimeter. Crews will continue to look for control options in Vicks Canyon on the south. Rehabilitation of dozer and handlines will continue. Philbin’s Type 2 Incident Management Team (IMT) will turn over management of the Seeley Fire to the local Forest at 0600 on July 13. The Forest personnel will work with the Type 2 IMT today to become familiar with resources and work yet to be accomplished to provide for an efficient transition tomorrow. Closures/Evacuations/Advisories: SR-31 has reopened through the fire establishing normal traffic flow from east to west. Speed continues to be monitored and strictly enforced. NO STOPPING is allowed along the roadway. В The Manti-LaSal National Forest has established a Forest Area Closure around the fire closing roads, trails and recreational facilities to provide for public safety due to impacts from the fire. CAUTION! Burned landscapes are dangerous. Be aware of falling trees, flash flooding, and debris flows in canyons. В Monitor weather conditions and stay clear of canyons when it is raining. Avoid traveling around burned trees during periods of high wind or wet weather. For your safety, follow local travel advisories and obey closures.
