Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 10:40 Monday morning to Helper Main Street, where Main Street Auto Repair was on fire.

Fire units from Helper City and Price City responded to the structure to find it fully engulfed in flames. The business, J&M Main Street Auto Repair at 15 N. Main, is a local auto mechanic shop, run by the Archuleta family in Helper. Traffic from Janet Street to the the railroad crossing by Central Comission was blocked off for the safety of the residents, as Helper Police Chief ,Trent Anderson, feared the service shop may have explosive material inside.

The property owner, Bob Olson said there was no need to fear gas lines running to the property.

” I just got here, but I know there are no longer any gas lines running to the property,” Olson explained after arriving on the scene just after 11a.m. this morning.

The structure has been considered a complete loss, but there was no one inside at the time of the fire. The Archuleta family declined to comment to ETV 10 news on the scene, but luckily no injuries were reported.

It has been rumored the fire was caused by a welding accident, but Chief Anderson said the investigation into the origin of the fire has been turned over to the State of Utah Fire Marshal’s Office. Check back with etv10news.com more more information as it is released.
