10 Dribblers Garner All-State Recognition *Photo Gallery*

Ten local athletes were named to 3A All-State basketball teams, announced late last week.

The Emery Spartans had five members, spanning both the boys’ and girls’ teams. Carbon was next with four and Green River had one player on the 1A Team.

Megan Jensen was named the 3A MVP last week after leading the Lady Spartans to the 3A State Championship last month over the Richfield Wildcats. On the season, Jensen averaged 17.1 points per game, all while being constantly double and triple teamed. She also averaged 8.8 rebounds per game as well. Jensen chipped in 2.6 blocks per game as well as 2.3 steals.

Kacelyn Toomer was named to the 3A First Team, having averaged 12.2 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.7 apg and 2.9 spg on the season. Sister Kinlee Toomer was next, named to the second team after scoring 10.3 ppg and dishing out 6.1 apg and snatching 3.0 spg. Lainee Jensen was also on the second team, adding 12.4 ppg while knocking down a team-high 59 triples, which also ranked fifth in the state in all qualifications.

Kyson Stilson was the lone Emery honoree, garnering a spot on the 3A Second Team. Stilson averaged 18.2 ppg, 6.9 rpg and 4.0 apg.

For the Dinos, Kelsey Sorenson was named 1st Team 3A after a stellar season for Carbon. She averaged 14.1 ppg and 8.0 rpg on the season. Jordan Bianco found herself on the 3A Third Team after averaging 9.8 ppg while also sinking a team-high 56 three-pointers during the season, good for seventh most made threes in the entire state of Utah. Jodi Noyes was also named to the 3A Honorable Mention Team, having averaged 11.5 ppg and 8.7 rpg.

Derek Hillam was also named as an all-state honoree, nabbing Honorable Mention honors, leading the Dinos with 13.4 ppg and 8.8 rpg.

Green River had one honoree in Maribel Escalante. The sharpshooter was named to the 1A Second Team after knocking down the fourth most threes in the state of Utah with 63. She averaged 16.1 ppg to lead the Lady Pirates.

MVPs are chosen by the Deseret News, while all-state teams are chosen by coaches in the different classifications.
