2018 Election Candidates Head to the Slammer

Candidates for the 2018 Carbon County election found themselves behind bars last week as they solicited donations to post bail and taste freedom. Donators could feel good about bailing out the area’s potential leaders as funds were donated to the annual Mike Ballard Memorial Fundraiser, which aims to benefit Carbon County local Frank Ori this year.

Ori is a well-know radio personality for local station KUSA and has been a familiar face at Carbon County Recreation over the past years. Since suffering a sever stroke late last year, Ori has been receiving expert care outside of the area, causing extensive medical bills to pile up.

The local hero returned to his home in May, just in time to take part in the upcoming fundraiser events. Funds raised from the concert, dinner and golf tournament will directly benefit the Ori family.

To garner even more support for the fundraiser and add to the increasing donations, local candidates took a time out at the Carbon County Jail as they eagerly solicited funds to post bail. The event was part of KUSA’s popular “Where the Heck is Haeck” segment hosted by Aaron Haeck.

By the end of their jail time, candidates were able to raise $1,421 to benefit the Ori family.
