Fred Wilcox, President of the National High School Rodeo Association stated, “The participants of the national finals rodeo are among the top athletes of all the world. The top 4 finalists in each event from each state have earned the right to compete for the top titles. This competition also included Australia and Canada.”
Three young cowboys from Emery County were among these top athletes competing in Lebanon, Tennessee during the last week. Ruger Noyes, Kayson Jensen and Byron Christiansen were chosen at state to represent Utah. Noyes placed in the light rifle shoot. Jensen made it to final go in Saddle broncs, and Christiansen in bull riding. Although the boys bucked off in the final round they both finished in the top twenty.
