Price City Press Release

The 2019 Price City International Days Championship Golf Tournament boosted by Castleview Hospital, powered by Coca-Cola and energized by Bodec was held on Saturday at the Carbon County Country Club with over 300 golfers, vendors and volunteers in attendance.

Mrs. Barbara Malatchie, the tournament grand marshal, started the tournament with the ceremonial first tee shot and Fox 13’s own Big Budah, along with Price City Mayor Mike Kourianos and Keith Cox, lit and shot the bowling ball cannon for the blasts to get things underway.

Carbon Country Club Golf Pro Tom King commented that the International Days Golf Tournament has become the biggest premiere scramble tournament south of the Wasatch Front. Thirty golf teams and 18 vendor sponsors from throughout the state as well as several from other states participated and competed.

The day started early with breakfast for everyone sponsored by Sutherlands Lumber. The day concluded with lunch and a cadre of contestants vying to make a hole in one shot for a $100,000 cash prize; unfortunately, there were no winners this year.

The A-1 Rental team took home the top spot with a team score of 57, an impressive 13 strokes under par. Several teams tied for second and third with a score of 60, taking a five-hole scorecard playoff to round out the winners.

The tournament consisted of long drive, putting, car for a hole-in-one and several closest to the hole contests as well as dozens of price drawings provided by the many great vendors and merchants helping out at the tee boxes throughout the day. Alf himself, the man, the myth, the legend, was in attendance and pushed his hole #5 Alf Sauce crew to a best vendor award as voted on by all the participants for a second year in a row, barely edging out Sutherlands’ hole #13 and Fun Shots’ hole #12.

Price City thanks the many great tournament sponsors, vendors, volunteers, golfers and staff that made the tournament a great success. All tournament proceeds will be distributed to local area charities in the coming months by Price City.

Tournament sponsors and vendors include: Castleview Hospital, Coca-Cola, Sutherlands, Bodec, TK’s Pro Shop, Keith Cox, Castle Country Radio, Eastern Utah Community Credit Union, United Way of Eastern Utah, Alf Aonai and Alf Sauce BBQ Sauce, Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, Peczuh Printing, Utah State University Eastern, Ward’s Landscaping, McDonald’s of Price, Fun Shots Photo Booth and DJ, Glidden Paints, Tram Electric, Price Chapel, Great Clips and Price City.
